Encouter with Wood Mother by Kirishin Encouter with Wood Mother by Kirishin
Wood Mothers used to be beautiful guardians of the lush forests, who took care of all of its inhabitants and guided those who lost their way. It is said they even took lost or abandoned children and raised them as their own. These children grew up to be feral guardians of the forests wielding strange powers they learned from their adoptive mothers. The grown up children are also known to form their own tribes where their numbers are great.
After the ancient God Trees were cut down for their magical properties and thus ridding the forests of all protection againts dark corruption the forests began to rot and turn into murky and eerie woods of decay. Wood Mothers tried to fend off the corruption but were too weak against the unknown power, and many Wood Mothers gave in to the corruption and either withered away or turned into something sinister.
Now none should tread these dead forests alone and unprepared. Only practised fire wielding sorcerers should have little to worry even though  the sight of light in the dark forest is sure to attract the attention of Wood Mothers and other vile creatures who still roam the area. Others should just find an alternative path and avoid these dead forests at all cost.

Instead of writing the actual story of my comic project I enjoy creating little snippets that will not appear anywhere near the beginning of the story :'D But I can't say it's all for nothing even though most of those little details might not even make it into the final story but if there's ever a need for something I propably already have the consept ready.

But yeah. My one finished traditional piece in a veeeeeery long time! I've been making a lot of works either only on photoshop or sketched something traditionally and then finished it digitally, the sheer thought of doing something completely traditionally was kind of off-putting. After my computer finally flipped and died I was forced to settle with only traditional mediums once more. A good practise. I have also realized that my practise with photoshop has affected my skills in general and not just only the handling of digital medium. Although traditional medium still poses its challenges, since there is not yet real life ctrl+z option invented and eraser can only do so much to help correct mistakes, but it's good to know I have not completely alienated myself from pens and markers.

Materials used: White gel pen, pencils and bunch of black markers, sizes varying from 003 to brush. Copics, Pro Markers, Faber-Castell markers in different shades of grey and few brownish shades. Paper size A4.

It might be way too early to ask but will we see a sketch of a wood mother prior to corruption?

I love the backstory for this character. No one is initially or intentionally evil and you tell it right. The traditional medium is much more appealing in my opinion. Keep at it! Or at least until you get a new computer.

Sorry that I haven't replied earlier! Worried
Thank you for your comments! It's nice to know that people like these little backstories. I have usually kept the stories to myself and I was a little hesitant of writing them down in fear that they seemed silly or badly written. Good to know that they aren't half as bad as think they are :D

And about that prior corruption version of wood mothers: that might happen. Even though wood mothers don't yet have a place in the story, it would be good practise to create more creatures for possible future use. I already have few ideas ready for the non-corrupted version. I might even tweak this corrupted design a little bit, to make it more like decaying wood and to match it with the normal wood mother design. :)

Kiitti!

Fucken LOVE it!

XDDDD Jos Auvo on niiku minä ettei tykkää äkkimakiasta. Syö ennemmin ne keksit.

Joo, se on toi ruskeus joka sulla tekee tän mielikuvan. :D Ei oo obvious ku sun piti sormella osottaa ja tunkee mun naama nyrkillä kiinni siihen kuvaan, ja mun piti oikein siristää silmiä ja käyttää mielikuvitusta että näin nää dominot. :D

Thank you my darling! musmus! =3=

I know that feel bro! On kiva ku idea kehittyy oikeastaan piirtäessä, ja tuo tosiaan omanlaista tyydytystään ku saa oikeasti kivoja ideoita omassa pikkupäässään. :D
I´ve been there. D:

Joo! :D
